Selecting the Right Venue for Your Kid’s Party

Nowadays, there are so many events venue to choose from for a kids’ party and looking for the right one can be an exhausting task. If you’re a mom who’s just starting to plan for your kid’s party, we’re here to help you.

Before looking for the right venue for your kid’s party, you have to settle three things beforehand.

1) Budget. Allotting a budget for the venue is crucial when you’re planning for a kid’s party. Besides from the food and host, a major part of your budget for the party will be covered by the venue. Most of the time, the amount of budget will depend on the quality and the type of venue that you want to get.

2) Number of your guests. Settling for a specific number of guests is important to visualize the size of the venue you need. If you’re having a hundred guests, a venue with the same capacity won’t do. In this case, your party will have a very limited space and this may cause trouble for your setup, suppliers, and guests.

3) Theme. Before selecting a venue, you should decide on a theme first because this will give you a vision on what type of venue will go with your party theme. For example, if you’re going for a picnic-like theme but you want the party to be indoors, you have to choose a venue that will give off that vibe—something that has glass windows that overlooks a garden or a mini grass field outside.

After settling the budget, the number of guests, and the theme of your kid’s party, here are the factors that you need to consider for selecting the right venue:

More than for your sake and the celebrant’s, a part of selecting the right venue is thinking about your guests. Nowadays, the road traffic has gotten more intense. That’s why considering the location & accessibility of a venue is important. If some of your guests are coming from the South (i.e., Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal), it would be a bit rude to set the party up in the North (i.e., Manila, Quezon City, Makati). If that is the case, pick a venue that’s somewhere halfway of your location and your guests’. You also need to consider if the location of the venue is accessible by both public and private vehicles.

If you know that some of your guests will be bringing their family car, then you need a venue that has ample space for parking. This is important especially if the venue of your choice is located at a secluded area.

The most ideal layout for a kids’ party is a spacious venue. If you’re inviting 100 guests, make sure to look for a venue that can hold 150 guests. This gives you ample space for your suppliers, games, activities, and other stations that you want to include in your kid’s party.

Another important element of the venue layout is the ceiling. We recommend that you look for a venue that has a medium to high ceiling (12 ft to 22 ft) for your kid’s party. A medium to high ceiling gives your party a breathable space. This also gives your stylist a chance to widen his creativity with the design. A well-decorated ceiling will give a feeling of grandeur for the party.

The ambiance of a venue is important, especially if you’re having a kid’s party. A well-maintained venue makes for a great ambiance. You’ll need to check if the whole room is well-lit or if the paint of the walls still looks good. This way, your party won’t appear as pale or gloomy but enchanting and cheerful. If you’re scouting for a venue, the best time to go would be at the time of the day that you’re planning to hold the party to see the actual ambiance of the place.

Make sure also to pick a venue with a good and operational air-condition—something that doesn’t make weird noises. Unless you’re going for a pool party, the last thing you’ll want to have is your guests complaining how hot it is during the party.

Most venues today have function rooms that are adjacent or nearby to one another. A common situation with this setup is when there’s an event or party on both function rooms that’s going on at the same time. If the function rooms don’t have well-built acoustics, the problem is that the event from the function room would be heard on the other. We advise that when you scout for a venue, check if this is the kind of setup that the venue has and if so, make sure that your ideal function room is soundproofed from its nearby rooms.

Another consideration is if the venue has a built-in sound system. If that is the case, you don’t need to hire for one anymore. (Yay!)

There are venues that only allow 1 -2 hours of setup time before the party. If you have complex decorations and designs for your kid’s party, 1 or 2 hours won’t do. You need to have at least 3 – 4 hours of setup time for the party. So when you’re looking for a venue, you need to check if they give enough time for the setup and if there’s an event before yours.

Selecting the right venue is an essential element for a successful kids’ party. We hope that considering these factors will help you pick the right one.
